I've only had a few couchsurfing experiences, but they've all been fantastic and resulted in great, continued friendships.

Books: Anything and everything. Currently obsessed with Russian/American author Gary Shteyngart. Satirical genius. I've also started on Tropic of Cancer, so fitting.

A drunken swim in the Seine on my birthday. Who knows what crazy things we may have inoculated that night, but it was all in good fun.

I also explored the underground catacombs/tombs of Paris on an 8 hour venture with a group of friends, a headlight, and a raft (water waist-deep at some points). Just crazy.
