Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have stayed in a few member's homes before and I plan on hosting once I move out of the dorm and into my own place.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I was first introduced to couch surfing in Taboga, an island off the coast of Panama when the hostel described in Lonely Planet had been closed. I met a local who told me about a man with extra rooms who hosts travelers. I found his house and he was an American living there who hosted us. Another time, I had to sleep in San Pedro Sula, Honduras because I was not going to make the bus int time to Copan so I called a friend and he gave me the number of another friend who was registered on couch surfing. I met him at the local mall and he came and picked me up. I met his friends, we played poker, I slept in his bed (he took the couch), showered in the morning, and he walked me to the main street to get a cab.
