I've lived in beautiful North Wales for my whole life, and have taken advantage of what the surroundings offer, developing a great interest in outdoor activities and generally being close to nature and other people who enjoy similar activities such as hiking, fell running, surfing, etc.
I've been an art student at the local college for the past year from September 2015, before which I studied for my A Levels in a local school. I'm now planning on taking at least one year off from education, and travelling as much as possible. My long term aims for the year are to travel to Australia on a work visa and spend a year developing myself whilst working alongside others, using programmes such as WWOOFING (working on organic farms in return for board) as well as working for pay. I essentially have no clear goal for the year yet, other than to enjoy myself and have the most interesting time possible.

Por que estou no Couchsurfing?

I don't like the idea of travelling completely alone. I think couch surfing is an excellent way to meet others along your way, and that there is no better way to see a place than through the eyes of a local, which is something couch surfing allows you to do. It's a very efficient way of meeting interesting people who are interested in helping others as well as getting to know them.

During August 2015 I cycled 1500km in just under 2 weeks from Calais to Milan, solo, carrying everything I needed for the trip on the bike. Along the way I camped, stayed in hostels, couch surfed, and used a similar community called warm showers (couch surfing for cyclists, essentially). It was an incredible experience, and I think it is one of the best ways to properly see a place, because you're able to pay attention to each individual town and city as you pass through, and you distinctly notice the changes in the landscape as you travel further south.

Growing up, my home was always shared with travelers and like-minded people. Our family have been Servas hosts for 30 years, an association which aims to promote peace and understanding throughout the world through the offering of a bed to sleep in. This is a very similar idea to couchsurfing, but sadly hasnt taken off to the same extent. I hope that through the sharing of stories, knowledge and understanding I will be able to further help fulfil this, because the more peace and understanding the better.
