关于我

CURRENT MISSION

Go everywhere. Do everything.

ABOUT ME

I'm the kind of person who will get crazy ideas in her head and run with them. I will climb that gigantic horse statue, or go live in Mali for four months. I love spur-of-the-moment decisions. I love the freedom of traveling and the joy of seeing and experiencing new things. When I'm doing something new, I am at my happiest, and I love meeting people along the way - joining their crazy adventures, or dragging them into mine!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just starting!

兴趣

I LOVE hiking. Climbing mountains is my favorite thing to do after traveling. Then there's archaeology - I'm majoring in archaeological studies at Yale University, and I've been on various digs and done fieldwork all over the world. I also sing a lot, play guitar, used to play cello... Once again, meeting new people always makes my life exciting and makes me happy!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

My friends and I were hiking in Dogon Country, in Mali. If you've never been there, GO. It is one of the most awe-inspiring places I've ever been to. The Bandiagara Escarpment rises about 500 meters above the plateau to the south, and you hike along the bottom, up through, and on top of the cliff. One evening, we arrived at a village on top of the escarpment, and went to sit on the edge. I sat with my feet dangling off into space, and watched the sun set. Just thinking of it gives me goosebumps. God, I want to go back.

I went to a club in Taksim Square in Istanbul called 360. It got its name from its 360 degree view of the city. It was my last night in Turkey before heading back to the States, after a month of archaeological work, and I was there with my two friends. I went out on the deck and took in the full scene of Istanbul by night. The Blue Mosque was lit up for Ramadan, I could see the Bosphorus Bridge stretching from Europe to Asia, and I could just barely hear the sound of the call to prayer over the noise of the heaving nightclub. That night is one of my most precious memories of Turkey - modern fun mixed with ancient beauty and culture.

One day in Ghana, we stopped at Kpong Airfield. This is the home base of WAASPS, a non-profit organization that flies medical information, supplies, and doctors out to rural villages. They have taught young Ghanaian women how to build and fly small planes, and teach others how to fly. They raise money by giving flight lessons and aerial tours of the surrounding area. Check it out: http://www.waasps.com/. I was lucky enough to get to fly around a bit with Patricia, the first girl to be taught how to fly. She's 22, and she is my hero. Flying is what she loves, and she is damn good at it. Flying over Lake Volta with her was probably one of the best experiences of my life. If you're ever in Ghana, you should definitely make an effort to get out there and visit them. You won't regret it.
