About Me

Learn me some español

I'm a Kiwi living in Oaxaca, Mexico.

None of that carpe diem stuff, I am way too special and original.

Seriously, I do believe in karma and passing things forward. Even if I can't host, I try to help out CSers as much as I can and enjoy doing so!

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

I fill up this section with words. And I have a couch for YOU.

My favourite CouchSurfing experiences have always been when I've been able to hang out with my hosts/surfers as much as possible.

I first started using the site in 2008 when I was living in Paris. I thought it was the craziest idea but had heard good things about Couchsurfing from a Kiwi friend.

When I moved to Montreal in 2011 without knowing a soul, I found it very easy to meet like-minded people thanks to the welcoming CSing community there.

I hosted a lot in Montreal with the Dante Street crew. At one point, we had six CSers staying plus five roommates, a cat, a ferret, a Chinese water dragon...and one bathroom.

I've just moved to Oaxaca and not quite ready to host but looking forward to meeting fellow travellers here.

Anything outdoors, camping, hiking.

I'm passionate about social justice and women's rights.

Currently trying to learn how to play samba percussion and swing dance, preferably simultaneously.

Reading, reading...ask me about it. Writing.

Music - Spanish guitar, gypsy, jazz, samba, Indonesian, Indian, opera...I'm pretty open-minded. Not so much into music involving skinny jeans and an ego but hey, I'll give it a try.

I love languages. I speak French and am teaching myself Spanish.

Music, Movies & Books

Yes, yes, yes.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Bungy jumping off a cable over a river in Latvia, climbing mountains in Slovakia. Scuba diving along the Carribean coast in Colombia, getting hopelessly lost trekking in Bolivia but having some hilarious times along the way. Many, many amazing times in old NZ. Also loved living in Paris for a year and living off a diet of bread, cheese and cider.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach people how to speak New Zealandish. It takes some years to cultivate this but the secret is pronouncing the word 'yes' without opening your mouth.

I can also teach lots of vegetarian recipes made from grass, leaves and love.

And of course I can introduce you to the hobbit who lives down the road.

Countries I've Visited

Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Bolivia, Plurinational State of, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chile, China, Colombia, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Peru, Poland, Samoa, Slovakia, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I've Lived In
