Because it is always a great experience getting to know local people in their home, learning about their life, culture, language... SHARING conversations, meals, experiences........ :-)

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I believe that you can learn something from everyone if you are open to it. And I think that we should learn to share so much more in live, although this cultural sorrounding together with hegemonial politics and economy is teaching us to be individualist and take "happiness" out of material things and money. But luckily there are a lot of People who realize that this is not the way to happiness and couchsurfing is one of the many methods to live an alternative way!!
