ABOUT ME

Well. What do I say? I am 24, I work at an NGO here in Colombo. I came out here because Dave had, he teaches at an international school, and I didn't want to start my life all over again in England.
We're here for 2 years in all, 7 months in, so far, and it's amazing! I am so very happy here, and want to share it all!
But about me... I'm English, tall, thin, and more sarcastic than people here can understand.

PHILOSOPHY

I actually had a nice thought this morning:

You will live forever. Your lifespan is such that you will never be able to measure how long it will be, I don't know how long I will live. When I die, that was forever to me. I will have lived everyday that ever existed that I know of.

On being properly awake, maybe it doesn't make as much sense as I though it did...

I never have before, but I've certainly slept on a few random sofas whilst travelling (much to my parents horror)

Zainteresowania

Life. Trying to remember the little things that so easily slip into invisibility through routine. I never want to think its normal to see cows blocking traffic, for example.

Muzyka, filmy i książki

Ummm....well, right now I'm reading Sophie's World. I don't want to go into favourite's as I'll be here forever (and at some point I'll have to look like I'm working!)
Music, I love all I hear - but when you get here, you can talk to Dave about that, he's the whizz.

Movies...I brought a good load out here with me, but we're running low. I love Hayao Miyazaki stuff maybe the most... but so many beautiful things to see.

Jedna niesamowita rzecz, którą zrobiłem(-am)

So many things! What a silly question! I watched a ghecko blinking last night and it was beautiful. I see sunrises, sunsets, people on buses...it's all amazing, it just depends how interested you are in seeing it.

What does esoteric mean? (The worst thing is, I know that Dave told me last night...hum hum). Is it specific or broad knowledge?

What can I say. I tried to tell my landlord when he was ranting drunkenly about leaving his wife that, any limitations and restrictions you suffer under are purely your own invention. If you can't cope with something, you have the power to change it, and if you don't feel like this is the case, that is an attitude, not a concrete reality. The possible exception is financial, but for most Westerners, even this is illusory.

What else? Can I teach you? A fair starter course in Sri Lankan politics if you want one - I think it's important to know what's going on behind the scenes of this idyll (ie. human rights, IDPs etc) Ican get very passionate and ranty!

To learn. It depends what you want to teach. You can learn anything from anybody if you respect them.
