Informazioni generali
Chi sono
Most people call me a big mix (happy to explain when we meet :)). Growing up among different cultures made me aware of differences, similarities, stereotypes and perceptions. It also made me eager to live in different countries, immerse myself in different cultures and learn more. So I kept going, and going, and I'm still going. I love having friends around the world (maybe not so much when trying to organise a b-day party), photographing and listening to stories. Hopefully, this journey will soon lead to a journalism project.
Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing
I started couchsurfing during my Interrail and it was such an experience! We were staying for a short time in most of the cities/towns so having a local to connect with from the very beginning really made THE difference. I usually stay at friends, friends of friends or couchsurfing when travelling for the purpose of getting to know the culture, place and people quicker and better. And of course it helps when travelling on a budget, allowing me to spend money on other experiences during the trip. I haven't started hosting so far but it's something that I'm looking forward when I have my house.
Interessi
Living in different countries, documenting life through photography, asking question, a good chat, new experiences (either if it is trying a new dish or scuba diving), learning, learning new languages, watching films, chocolate, a lot of chocolate, social entrepreneurship, riding horses.

Musica, film e libri
Films: Rien n'est pardonné (Belgium, documentary), The Good Postman (Bulgaria, documentary), The Dream of a Butterfly (Turkey), A Thousand Times Good Night (Ireland/Norway), City of God (Brazil), The Hundred-Foot Journey (USA) and many others. Looking for suggestions!
Music: Anything that will make me dance! Salsa, samba, bachata, bossa nova, pop...
Books: Meu Pé de Laranja Lima by José Mauro de Vasconcelos (Brazil).
Also, this quote has been with me for a while now:
"A man needs to travel. On his own, not through stories, images, books, or television. He needs to travel for himself, with his own eyes and on his own feet, to understand what is his. So that he might someday plant his own trees and value them. He must know cold in order to enjoy heat. And vice versa. He must experience distance and homelessness in order to feel at home under his own roof. A man needs to travel to places he does not know; he must lose the arrogance that causes him to see the world as he imagines it, rather than simply as it is, or as it can be; the arrogance that turns us into professors and doctors of what we have not seen, when we should be students who simply go and see." Mar Sem Fim by Amyr Klink (Brazil)
Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto
I will try to keep it short, most likely to share more when we meet :)
Living & volunteering in Uruguay: I took part in a volunteering programme in a rural area and I feel I've learned more than I've taught. I did some communication projects with children and older people in the villages, later exhibited in Uruguay and Portugal. Being able to bring, in a way, these two cultures closer to each other is what makes me want to keep travelling and living in different places. And having a chat with Mujica in his house was also pretty amazing!
Climbing the Pedra do Baú, in Brazil. I was so unaware of how high it actually is!
Insegna, impara, condividi
I can teach some of the languages I speak and I'm always ready to learn a new one myself. I can also teach some boxing as I've been practicing for a few years now.
Cosa posso offrire ai padroni di casa
I can share stories and experiences and I like to listen to other people's stories - always find this exchange very inspiring. If there is a glass of wine, tea or traditional drink involved even better! I also like to brainstorm and come up with ideas.
I am not really into cooking but my boyfriend Vasco is and we travel together quite often. If I'm solo travelling, I can show off my great salad maker skills, not to mention sangria and caipirinha ;)
