About Me

Hi :) I'm a wandering anthropologist from Croatia who wishes to explore as many different cultures as possible, learn new languages and meet interesting people. My three biggest passions are travel&dance&reading. My guilty pleasure is - watching The Voice - while eating ice cream - while dancing.
I try to adapt to all the situations which I encounter- if it fits I sits :) I like drinking coffee and deep talks as much as I like dancing until dawn.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Me and my boyfriend Reinis wanted to set off on an adventure going from Latvia, his home country, all the way down to the south - my hometown Pula. Since it is quite a long road, one might dare to say (around 1, 632 km) we wondered if we could encounter some fellow travellers&wandering souls who could help us a bit on our journey concerning the matter of accommodation and with whom we could share some experiences, thoughts and maybe even a beer or two ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, some Turkish indie music like Kalben, Son Feci Bisiklet, Hey Douglas, mostly rock, indie, and a wide range of electronics

Movies: from the tough ones like Haneke's, the ones with insane plot and aesthetics like Sorentino's to the Tarantino's black humor movies. (but the light criminalistic or action films are my guilty pleasure)

Books: too much theory too less pleasure reading, still - love for magic realism, Borges, Marques &Bulgakov

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was singing on a boat connecting the European and the Asian part of Istanbul to support myself while I was living there (maybe not quite amazing but quite silly and fun indeed)

I swam in the Arctic (maybe a bit more amazing).

Teach, Learn, Share

What I have learned during traveling and living in different countries is that it is all about communication and learning about the culture. It might seem vague and simple but it's easy to feel like a foreigner even in your own country so it is of essential value to break out of your comfort zone, fight the fear and throw your self in the fire. And also to look and listen attentively. That is the sweet&sour cost of freedom.
So I would like, more than everything, to listen to what the host has to say about their own country and learn from them. Also, I can offer the same in my home country.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my experiences of living, studying and traveling to different countries, teach you some words in Balkan languages, Turkish or Latvian and cook some nice meal :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Montenegro, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovenia
