About Me

CURRENT MISSION

become a psych researcher and travel the world

ABOUT ME

Hmm well I'm a student living at home and trying to get my degree in psychology. I finish in May and then hope to go travelling for a few years, maybe do TEFL in Asia.. just get out into the real world! I've travelled a good bit by myself and love the feeling of having all time and space in the world.

PHILOSOPHY

Hmm.. I live to experience whatever life throws out - good times make you happy, bad times make you strong, and either way every day is golden

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm just starting! Hopefully going to get involved with CS at home in Dublin, then.. we'll see!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None at all.. but I've stayed with friends when travelling and it's always most memorable that way.

Interests

I'm a big reader and love English lit (working my way through the BBC top 100 books right now, just finished A Prayer for Owen Meany).

I love to cook - dessert obviously (my specialities are banoffee, and raspberry choccy cheesecake) but Irish food in general.

I'm interested in music though I know almost nothing about it (never know who sang what song!). I really like instrumental music, and am trying to teach myself the piano, sloooowly!

Hmm what else? I like dressmaking and fixing up clothes I get in charity shops around Dublin.

I tried to get into running once and ended up walking a marathon for 8 looong hours.. so I don't think I'm a sporty person! Like hiking around the Wicklow hills though, and a bitta yoga's lovely and relaxing!

That's about it!

Music, Movies, and Books

Love love love books - Dickens, Hardy, Brontes (both), Tolstoy, Tolkien, Terry Pratchett... Right now I'm starting Middlemarch. I grew up knowing more about characters in books than the people around me - always reading!

Music? Hmm not sure if I've a genre, don't know much about it!

Love movies too, but it's getting sooo expensive to see them so I haven't seen that many this year. Loved the Social Network and Inception recently, King's Speech should NOT have one the Oscar! My favourite movie is the Snowman (the "I'm walking in the air" cartoon) just because of the memories..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once saw ryan tubridy in PERSON! Got lost inside a giant head in Krakow square, played duck duck goose with lovely happy Honduran kids, slept under the shadow of Kilimanjaro, had a brief table quiz running streak, nearly got kicked of a train by a Croatian border guard, saw mother theresa at a distance when she visited my primary school, swam under a hot waterfall in Rio Dulce, Guatemala (and learnt to make guacemole..), came close to a herd of elephants, baby included.. everything's amazing!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can.. teach you iffy Spanish or Irish.. how to make lovely stews and banoffee.. tell you about psychology (can't read your mind though, sorry :).. how to sew/knit..

Countries I’ve Visited

Andorra, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, El Salvador, France, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Italy, Nicaragua, Norway
