My name is Helly Maris and currently I'm 26 years old. I was born in the Netherlands but when I was 6 years old we no ed to Germany for my fathers work. So I went to school in Germany and grew up bilingual. After school I studied international business communication in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. After a couple of years though I quit my studies because I didn't like them, started working in a restaurant to save up some money and am now travelling the world. My travels started in Australia. Right now I'm in New Zealand and next week I'm flying to Asia!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well there is of course the obvious reason of cheap accommodation but I also love to meet new people and I think couch surfing is an ideal platform for both!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love electronical music, and musical movies are definetly totally my thing. But I also love action movies and fantasy. My favorite genre in books is fantasy/sci-fi. I really loved game of thrones and red riding is also one of my favorites. Currently I'm reading the passage by Justin Cronin.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I absolutely loved all the hikes I've done in New Zealand. The big ones and the small ones. I especially loved the feeling after when you were so proud of carrying your food, tent, sleeping bag, mattress and everything in your backpack and knowing you survived a couple of days kind of in nature.

Teach, Learn, Share

In my experience if something goes wrong something better comes along. At least if you have good karma. That's something I experienced in New Zealand, Kiwis give so much and expect nothing in return. The more you give, something will always come back.
