ABOUT ME

I have been in Asia for 8 years. Working during the school year and using the money to travel on the long holidays. I have just been in Manila for the first time in 40 years and love the people, food and culture there. Now I am going to spend 3 months in the USA revisiting a country that has always been my home. It has changed so much since I came to Asia. I just want to visit with people and see what is really happening there these days. I hope I can meet you on my Summer 2009 travels.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that we Americans are great people but we are not destined to control the world. I am so glad the Bush and Cheney warmongers are gone and we can again establish ourselves as a nation loved by others. I hate war and all associated with it. I hate the system here in china but know we have to show them there is a different way of thinking. more importantly, we musgt show them it is ok to think.

I watch tons of movies. I love romantic comedies especially. i enjoy coldplay, david cook, u2, anyting current. anything old, anything jazz, anything classical. music is my refuge when i return to my apartment daily. it somehow puts me back in the real word.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

wow i have climbed the great wall, i have ridden camels in the gobi desert. i have ridden on trains full of chickens, goats and pigs. i have stayed in some of the world's finest hotels and eaten the best food one can imagine. but i am just as happy staying with a student in his village, going to toilet beside the pigs, being surrounded by cold and snow with no heat but the warmth of my hosts. the list goes on. over a beer maybe

i was a journalist, a medical sales person, a retirement home manager.... a school teacher in china.........go figure. its just the continuing learning process. i figure i can do this another decade at least.
