I like opera, classical music and ballet, as well as pop, MPB and country (both American and Brazilian). I think that Roberta Flack's rendition of "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" is the most beautiful love song I've ever heard. Barbra Streisand, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan , Tony Bennett are among my favorite singers. I love movies. Kurosawa's "Ran" is one of my all time favorites. I think Horton Foote is great. There's a little-known Ellen Burstyn film called "Resurrection" that I'd love to see again. I'm crazy about comedies: anything by Mel Brooks, as well as "Sister Act" and "Some Like it Hot." My favorite writers are Dickens and Garcia Marquez, but I also really like good mystery stories.

When I was 18, I hitchhiked from NY to LA, though I don't really think it was that amazing. I've climbed Mt. Fuji and the pyramids at Uxmal and Chichen-Itza.
