About Me

LGBT+ friendly, outdoor enthusiast, with a penchant for both the horizon and the people around me.

I'm an archaeologist currently on the great travel associated with this line of work - doing fieldwork in all odds and ends of places and trying not to die along the way.

Like many folks on here, I am fascinated with moving around, exploring, meeting new people, and making memorable experiences. Always wanting to find out what's just around the corner drives me to do many of the things I do in my life. Though I'm not expecting to climb Mt. Everest in the foreseeable future (though exploring slot canyons in Utah really piques my interest) , I do find a passion in life from turning the pages of the world and pausing after each comma to smell the flowers.

I like to surround myself with qualitative-type people - those who understand the critical importance of logic but are willing and eager to discuss the subjectivity of things. I really enjoy spinning webs of significance with people and writing & re-writing our own meanings in life, whether they be silly or serious, boring

PHILOSOPHY

"Yup, home is where your rump rests!"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am currently on the road, so I don't do much hosting! But I would love to poke around your city if I'm ever passing through.

My friends in the area love to host people passing through the area, and we like to show them as much of our lives here as we can. Depending on how busy we are, expect caving trips around the area, hiking trips in George Washington National Forest or Shenandoah National Park, and most definitely a quick (or long) saunter to the amazing bars downtown.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My experience has been incredibly positive. The folks that I've stayed with and those who have stayed with me have been those of very high quality and make me enjoy participating in the community. I certainly feel that many people in the Couchsurfing community click on many different levels, and I instantly feel connected to others in it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One summer weekend some friends and I went camping in the Alvord Desert on a salt flat east of Steens Mountain in SE Oregon. We drove several miles out into the middle of nowhere and decided to sleep under the stars surrounded by nothing but dust and the night sky. We brought a bicycle with us, and we were able to ride on the playa at night staring straight up in the sky for hours. It felt like riding a bike through outer space, as all we could see were the stars above us that faded into the flat darkness of the desert.
