I'm Herdís - I live in Akureyri with my husband Aron. I grew up in Akureyri but my husband is from the capital, Reykjavík. I love meeting new people, drinking coffee and exploring new places.
I am a soldier in the Salvation Army and currently work in the Salvation Army here in Akureyri.
I love rock music (I play the bass) and like to travel and see as many parts of the world as possible. Cooking is a passion of mine, I love learning new recipes, trying new food, using new spices and experimenting in the kitchen :) I love coffee and tea but that is as strong as my drinks get.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm genuinely interested in people, we all have stories to tell and knowledge to share. I love meeting new people and simply talking. I hope to meet people from as many parts of the world as possible, as well as of course traveling to as many countries as possible :)

When hosting, we would like to meet new people and help them have a great experience in the wonderful Northern Iceland. I worked for over 3 years as a reporter for a TV channel based in Akureyri and through my job I have had the privilege of travelling in the area, getting to know Northern Iceland in a whole new way.

When travelling we would love to meet new people and get the locals' advice regarding what to do and what to see in each area :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't read a lot but audio books are helping me rekindling the love I used to have for books. Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings are by far my favorite. I also try to read the Bible regularly and listen to books on leadership.
When it comes to music, I'm a bit stuck in the 70's and 80's. I love Queen, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Bob Marley, Guns N' Roses, Aerosmith, Elton John...and Ed Sheeran is definitely my favorite current artist.
