About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I travel the world and the seven seas / Everybody's looking for something.

ABOUT ME

I'm a laid-back, self-professed nerd who nevertheless likes to keep a finger on the pulse of pop culture. Currently, I'm a graduate student at the University of Memphis, studying Art History with a concentration in Egyptian Art and Archaeology (so basically I major in Pictionary).

I try to find humor in most situations and relate well to people who do the same. I enjoy drinking hot coffee and cold beer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I just created this profile! Maybe you can help me put something interesting under this heading.

Interests

I like spending time in museums. Foreign languages are my favorite subject of study.

I think video games like The Legend of Zelda, Punch-Out!!, Super Mario Bros. 3 and Sonic the Hedgehog are rad.

I guess you could say that I like to 'collect' new experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have an eclectic taste in music, so it's hard to define it by a few artists. A sampling: Alt-J, Jenny Owen Youngs, Stereolab, Lady Gaga, Andrew Bird, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Big Boi, Parliament-Funkadelic, etc.

I like the alternatively deadly serious and slick-but-goofy quality of Tarantino films.

Shows I watch sometimes: Archer, 30 Rock, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Parks and Recreation.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching faraway fireworks from the 95th floor in the John Hancock Building in downtown Chicago -- each one a tiny, irregular asterisk of color set off against the regimented grid of electric lights.

Meeting a local artist in Costa Rica, well into his 70s, who still painted after numerous brain surgeries because he couldn't imagine doing anything else.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Costa Rica, France, Italy, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
