About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Balance between traveling and working.

ABOUT ME

When I was little, I moved quite often to follow my parents. Thus I was exposed to different cultures and languages from a young age. Although I've been moving around a lot, I consider Beijing and Seattle my hometown, mostly.

I studied economics, math and Arabic in college. Since I graduated, I've been working as a banker in different cities around the world, trying to explore new places and culture and making money at the same time. So far I've worked in Brazil, Hong Kong, China and Mozambique. Now I'm living in Luxembourg. Grew up as a son of an archaeologist, I've always been interested in history, archaeology and art. It was a big decision for me to switch field from finance/banking to cultural management, but I have always had the cultural curiosity and spirits in me, that's why I really enjoy what I am doing and I don't regret a bit.

I am a gourmet and a food machine. When I travel somewhere, I try all kinds of local delights, from fine dishes at Michelin restaurants to street food.

PHILOSOPHY

Yes, in my life, since we must call it so, there were three things, the inability to speak, the inability to be silent, and solitude, that's what I've had to make the best of.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I generally use CS for meeting new people, grabbing coffee or tea with them. I used to host people when I was in China but now I've been moving too frequently so it has been difficult to host people. I was hosted a few times a few years ago and it was very nice experience too. I like to hear locals talk about their cities and share their stories, and I enjoy the moments when locals show me their favorite spots/corners in town. I show people around cities in which I live at the moment, and when I visit somewhere I contact people to show me theirs. I met several people visiting Seattle for coffee and I was hosted by a kind Mexican guy when I visited Mexico City. Met a few very cool people through CS during my trip in Brazil. Made some new friends while I was in Africa, Hong Kong and Beijing.
