Hi, I’m Hilke, a 18-year old from the Netherlands. I finished high school one year ago and wanted to have some other adventures before I would start my studies at the university. I live in a small village in the Netherlands where we have a few animals. I love travelling and especially the places I’ve seen and most of all the people I’ve met so far. I already did a few workaways in different countries and went interrailing with my friend. I would love to meet other people along the way to make some new friends, share interests and to have a good time. I am very curious and always want to learn new things such as languages or cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I actually havent tried it yet, so I am very curious how it will work out, but I really enjoyed staying at Workaway addresses where you get to know the people and therefore cultures better.

Interests

Since we have always had animals, I like being with them and taking care of them. Other hobbies are being outside in nature and hiking or doing sports such as running. On a vacation I like the combination of making new friends and doing sightseeing in the cities and exploring the most beautiful trails in nature.

Music, Movies, and Books

When I was younger we never had Netflix or any other streaming service, so I haven’t seen a lot of movies and would like to catch up all the classics that I have missed. I like to listen to a lot of music genres, but I especially love to listen to classic rock, indie rock and indie/alternative music. When I am at home I don’t read as much, however when I’m travelling I enjoy reading a good book. Mostly I read books about philosophy, psychology and health.
