I graduated from UC Davis a couple years ago with a degree in Spanish and a minor in Education. Since then I’ve been working at a preschool in the bay area teaching Spanish, reading, writing, math and empathy. I adore it but I’m also keenly aware that it’s time to move on to my next thing. Right now that next thing is picking up and moving to Spain with my boyfriend Charlie in an effort to make good on my Spanish degree and live far and away outside my comfort zone.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Anything I can dance to with reckless abandon. I like electro-funk/ swing/ tango/etc. shows because no one seems to mind that I’m all elbows on the dance floor. Other than that I like most stereotypical indie rock. Metal is the only genre I haven’t been able to wrap my head around.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In college I participated in Occupy UC Davis. It was my first real foray into civil disobedience and the only cause to date I’ve been down to get arrested for. The communities I saw erected under the Occupy banner we’re incredible and still give me hope for what we can do as a society when we come together to take care of each other. On November 18th, 2011 I got to experience that community at its finest as it reacted to police aggression in “The UC Davis Pepper Spray Incident”. I could go on ad nauseum about the kindness I saw before, during and after the moment I was pepper sprayed with another 20+ students and would be giddy to do so if you inquired. In short though, it was an experience I really value and unquestionably the most lucrative hour of my life.
