ABOUT ME

I'm an engineer from the UK who is currently living and working in Köln. Love travel, whether it's my prolonged stay here or holidays and backpacking. Next big trip is Africa. Am also a bit of a Latin America freak.

PHILOSOPHY

Can't think of anything profound enough. I live my life to enjoy myself and help everyone I care for have fun too. I would like to start "giving something back" in a broader sense as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Only one as I'm a new member - but it was great fun! Some unofficial ones before I joined - two girls who stayed with me during the World Cup who I met on the Lonely Planet website, and have recently made another friend who is new in Köln in the same way. Also made a friend in the South of France through LP and stayed with her.

Most of it! Sucker for airport thrillers and 80's music, but also slightly more highbrow (!) stuff and current Indie / rock music (though just calling it that probably dates me!). Anyone who visits is welcome to swap books and tunes!

4 days driving through the Gran Sabana in Venezuela in an over-filled jeep, with a useless map, no idea where we were going, and a cool box of beer.

I'd like to learn some Swahili for the upcoming trip! I can share plenty of good recipes, and a fine knowledge of Kölsch beer and bars... Latin America travel advice and an insight into Formula 1 (my job).
