About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finally following my heart and doing what I love for a living!

ABOUT ME

Always busy with something--I was in Bozeman, MT this past winter to work on the ski patrol at Big Sky Resort. Back in Seattle for the summer to enjoy the water and almost impossible number of outdoor events to experience. Taking a paramedic course in the evenings. Occasionally teach wilderness medicine courses (and happy to share that knowledge with you!) Also still work my government day job from a home office (for those of you familiar with the joys of working from home...I do concede to put on pants whenever I have guests).

Love rock climbing; ice climbing; skiing; road biking; paddle boarding; playing guitar, bass, piano and any other instrument I can get my hands on. Love good home cooking. Pescatarian. Love the idea of having a ranch someday, or some urban homesteading--gardening, beekeeping, city goats, you name it!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can be pretty busy and travel myself a lot, so don't be offended if I decline your request. Chances are you are pretty AWESOME! Currently just myself and my dog Gibson with a guest bedroom.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Slept on a couch in NYC once (a friend, not a CS adventure). Ended up at the NYU Hospital emergency room with possible nerve damage in my neck. Doctors assumed I had been extremely drunk the night before. Good times.

Met up with a couchsurfer the first time I visited Vancouver to do some climbing in Squamish. Would probably not have found a climbing partner otherwise, so go CS!!

Finally hosted my friend Paula in March 2012 and had such a great experience! Really affirmed that CS attracts interesting and kind people. We are still good friends to this day!

Interests

Being outdoors, especially rock climbing, hiking, biking and skiing. Really want to get better at kayaking. Up to try pretty much anything you throw my way.

Musically inclined. Love to go to concerts, and play several instruments though none often enough. I'd love to jam if you are up for it.

Good cook. I'm happy to cook for you or learn one of your favorite recipes/dishes.

You! Teach me about your culture, language, family, hobbies... Always open to new experiences and learning from and about others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Cross-country bike trek from Baltimore, MD to San Francisco, CA with the 4K for Cancer to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. Most amazing two months of my life so far, but always trying to beat it! You should check them out and contribute or do the ride yourself next summer!

Maryland Challenge on the Appalachian Trail (hiking all 41 miles of the trail through MD in one day, with an extra 5 miles getting lost:)
