Hi! I’m Hiroki, a 35-year-old from Tokyo, Japan. I’ll be visiting San Francisco from March 6th to 10th, 2025, and I’m hoping to meet locals or fellow travelers while I’m there! My trip is part of a work-related visit to the U.S.—I’ll be attending my company’s event in Nashville, Tennessee, and I managed to squeeze in some time in San Francisco before heading back to Japan.

I work for an international SaaS company in the IT industry. Although I don’t use English much in my day-to-day work, I’m actively working toward my goal of moving to an English-speaking country—possibly the U.S.! California, in particular, is one of my ideal destinations because of its racial diversity, strong IT industry, and open-minded culture.

I’m on Couchsurfing because I want to learn more about America from a local’s perspective, especially what it’s like to live and work in California. While in San Francisco, I’d love to explore bookstores, cafés, and jazz bars—if you have any recommendations or want to join me, let’s connect!

A little more about me: I enjoy visiting parks, bookstores, and universities (even when traveling abroad). I also love reading and having meaningful conversations with people from different backgrounds. My English level is IELTS 6.5, so while I’m not fluent, I can communicate and would love to improve through real conversations.
