About Me

Hi, I’m Hmayak 👋
Born in 1997, I live in Yerevan, Armenia. I’m passionate about connecting with people, exploring cultures, and learning from every journey. I balance my professional work in human rights and public health with my love for traveling, cooking, and long conversations with new friends.
I see Couchsurfing not just as a place to find a bed or host someone, but as a chance to build meaningful human connections.

I studied Leadership and Advocacy, and life led me to dedicate myself to human rights, health, and community development. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to work as a programs manager, consultant, and trainer in Armenia and internationally.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because hotels give you a bed, but Couchsurfing gives you a story.
I’ve spent years working on human rights and health advocacy, which taught me one thing: people are the real bridges between cultures. Every city has its museums and landmarks, but the most unforgettable part of travel is the laughter around someone’s kitchen table, the tips only a local can give, or the way a simple walk turns into a deep conversation about life.

For me, Couchsurfing is not a backup plan for accommodation — it’s the main reason to travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

I absolutely love live music and the energy of concerts. Some of the unforgettable shows I’ve been to are Adele, Dua Lipa, Beyoncé, and Justin Timberlake. Next on my list is Billie Eilish — I’m already excited! In general, I enjoy everything from soulful ballads to powerful pop performances.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Taught public speaking and saw my students go from shy voices to confident speakers — one of my proudest moments.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I come from Armenia, one of the world’s oldest cultures, and I love sharing pieces of it with new friends. With my hosts, I can:
- Cook or introduce you to Armenian food (like dolma, lavash, or sweet gata).
Share stories about our ancient history, traditions, and legends — Armenia is the first Christian nation, with monasteries and tales that go back thousands of years.
- Teach you a few words in Armenian, one of the world’s unique and ancient languages.
- Bring a taste of Armenian hospitality — warm, generous, and always paired with good food and laughter.

And of course, beyond culture, I’m always happy to help around the house, share music, exchange travel stories, or just enjoy a nice evening together.
