ABOUT ME

My name's Holly, I'm an Appalachian Studies major at Appalachian State University. I love it, but sometimes the school part is a little tedious. I love running, hiking, biking, and being outside. I'm a musician and I like to write. I'm also obsessed with living in the South because we have cheerwine, fried green tomatoes, contra dances, and glorious accents. However, in the future I'm going to go out West and live in the desert, but by then I'm sure I'll have kicked the cheerwine habit (for those of you who don't know cheerwine is soda made in North Carolina... I'm not an alcoholic, I promise).

PHILOSOPHY

Love.... that makes me sound like a hippie. I guess I'll work on rephrasing this later.

Anyone is welcome to surf at my apartment, but what I'd really like is to travel this summer and meet new people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not much. I crash with friends occasionally, but they mostly live in the places I live.

Música, películas y libros

old time, bluegrass, pop, blues, jazz, folk, honestly all music is pretty good music. I like old movies and westerns, and Fantastic Mr. Fox. All books are good books, but I especially the Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads, Daodejing, anything by Henry Miller, Jonathan Safran Foer, FAULKNER, Emerson and Hemingway are pretty good, Thoreau is fine, as far as poetry goes I like Pablo Neruda, and Jennifer Boyden best. I'll pretty much read anything; at school I live in the library.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

Banjo, Bassoon, Fiddle, Piano. I can teach cooking/baking, or sewing, or anything about Appalachia. I can teach someone how to contra dance or flatfoot dance. I can teach drawing, painting, writing. I'd love to learn how to play more instruments, love to learn carpentry, beekeeping, any kind of crafty stuff, and more cooking/baking.
