Hello! I am an ornithologist (bird scientist) that just moved to Costa Rica. I currently work as the research coordinator for Costa Rica Bird Observatory, so I am based in San Jose, Costa Rica but I do a bit of traveling throughout the country. I have been birding since I was a kid in Colorado. I did my undergraduate at Humboldt State University in Northern California where I studied wildlife biology and zoology. Afterwards I worked as a wildlife biologist on various field projects in Dominican Republic, Greece, Mexico, Nebraska, Southern California, Arizona, and Virginia. I got my master's outside of Philadelphia at Villanova University where I studied 2 endemic birds in the Dominican Republic. I recently moved from Ecuador where I was living in an off-grid reserve in a bamboo tree house. I really enjoy traveling and exploring new places!

I started my own non-profit in the Domincan Republic called the Fundacion Verde Soy. We have 6 bird monitoring stations set up along an elevational gradient to better understand local bird movement patterns and distributions. Additionally, we work with local universities to give students more opportunities to work in ecology and we work with local Dominican companies whose employees help us with reforestation efforts.
