HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For a long time, I thought that traveling was an unattainable pleasure relegated mostly to the middle and upper classes. Then I realized, um, fuck that! I can train-hop and couchsurf and camp and sleep in my car, and it will likely be much more of adventure than staying at the Holiday Inn. I'd like to host people because I believe strongly in making travel available to everyone, and because I also think meeting a place's people is one of the most interesting parts of travel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I just recently had my first two couchsurfing experiences, while on a Tour De West Virginia with my cousin and her dog. They couldn't have been better — everyone was incredibly open and friendly, and made me want to join CS right away.

兴趣

The arts. Reading. Getting everywhere on my bike. Watching the two best TV shows of all time, "The Wire" and "Six Feet Under." Drinking good beer. Singing karaoke in dive bars. Big cities and all their layered complications. Small towns and how fringe and funky they can be.
