ABOUT ME
We are a newlywed couple who are backpacking the world for our honeymoon. So far we have China and Vietnam under our belts and now we're wandering through Laos. Next up will be Thailand, India, Greece and Italy. We've found we much prefer getting to know people and hearing their stories to snapping pics of tourist destinations. It helps give a deeper perspective on the city when you know someone local. While snapping pictures is a nice way to make memories, we'd prefer to know people!
PHILOSOPHY
"life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans"
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We are currently homeless. We quit our jobs, packed up our stuff, left the doggy with her grandparents (sob!) and we're on the road for 9 months. That means we cannot host, but boy are we excited to do so when we get back home! Now we are looking for a better understand of the countries we visit through meaningful interaction with people who have some insight on the culture. We LOVE learning at least a little bit of each language. We've found that if we can communicate even a just a little in the local language that we are met with many more smiles!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Visiting some friends in southern Italy one Christmas Dida was met with a challenge that would change her life (for the better). A tiny puppy was abandoned in a dumpster and left to die. She could not leave her there. After much consideration, and some sneaking, she managed to get her home with me, 10 hours north in Vicenza, Italy. They lived together there for a couple years and when it came time to move back to the US Dida procured her a passport and brought her with her. She is now a US citizen, a beloved part of our family and was even the flower girl at our wedding!
Teach, Learn, Share
I am an Italian teacher and have worked for the past two years at a Reggio Emilia based non profit language school. I have also taught English and can speak some Spanish. On the side I work as a Polynesian dancer and entertain at weddings, parties, and private homes. Vincent is a man of all trades who can figure just about anything out. He worked as a writer and blogger for a while and would someday like to write a novel or screenplay. Both Vincent and I believe that a truly valuable education is one that you seek and experience for yourself.
