About Me

CURRENT MISSION

give each day a chance to be a great day.

ABOUT ME

Joy of life. I reckon that's the keyword of me and my life. I learned some years ago how incredible gift life is and realized that all that matters is to enjoy it - and that changed me and my attitude remarkably.

I have joy of life inside me meaning that I simply love living. Even the smallest things make me happy- a morning coffee in a moomin cup, rainy day after many sunny days, sunny day after many rainy days, friendly bus driver, smiling passer-by...

I am adventurous and curious person- always excited to see more, hear more, experience more, learn more (and since I have horrible memory, I get to learn the same things again and again and it's always just as exciting!) I am like a child always asking "why?" and "how?"amd always keen to hear stories! And I enjoy having good conversations and taking looks at the things from different points of view.

And even though I am a bit shy person, I like to be around people and talk - I am a person who gets stuck in a grocery store chatting with the cashier. (yes, I am THAT person you hate when you are in hurry. I know, I do too!)

So I can be social yet I still need time on my own as well. After a good while of social time, I must disappear into my own world and put my thoughts together again. A good balance keeps me sane! (sane? me? mm... i don't know if I have anything to do with sanity!)

Years ago, before I found my joy of life, I was lost and more like a living dead. Then one day I realized that I was throwing my life away and about to give up all my dreams. I fought my way back on track and now it's all about loving the world and its adventures!

PHILOSOPHY

As clishé as it is- this is the only life we get. We should make the most of it.
Stealing some words from Viktor Hugo:

"It is nothing to die. It is terrible not to live."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have surfed a good deal of wonderful couches of even more wonderful fellow CSers. October 15th 2014 to December 15th 2015 adventuring in Nepal, India, New Zealand and Australia - looking forward to all new chapters of life shared with great people!

I hosted few surfers in my tiny flat in Turku and found it great how I could get excited about traveling through other travellers when I was in "stuck" in Finland.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

2011-2012 I surfed in USA for half a year and CS made my adventure very unique and unforgettable. I was lucky to meet a bunch of great, goodhearted people and get new, lovely friends.
I made my way back home through Europe and thanks to wonderful CSers I experienced things I would not have experienced otherwise.

2013 I surfed around Balkans and Eastern Europe and once again, it is Couchsurfing that made such unforgettable journey!

In mid-october of 2014 off for a 14-month-long adventure in Nepal, India, NZ and Australia.

Interests

People- different characteristics, pasts and backgrounds, opinions, ways of living, values, passions, dreams, cultures...

Hitchhiking- I started hitchhiking on my trip in the summer of 2013 and fell in love with it. I think it is a way of spreading the word of trust and brotherhood among all the people of the world. I have encountered touching friendliness when hitchhiking.

Sports- ice hockey is my biggest passion, but I can watch pretty much any sports and I'll be living the game. I enjoy all the emotions it brings out. I enjoy witnessing the growing stories, surprises, talent of athletics...

Snowboarding - no words. Love it. Absolutely love it.

Rock climbing and trekking - climbing makes me feel like I am a little kid again climbing the maple trees in our backyard. Trying to solve the puzzle of which way to go up, where to place your hands and feet, and that adrenaline rush it gives - too good to be true! And I am madly in love with the mountains and therefore trekking is one of the best things I know!

Books, I love reading.. It's traveling when you don't have possibility to take your backpack and go. And writing! Creating stories and expressing myself when I fail to speak.

Scuba diving! I got certificated in Miami in 2011 so I have done only a few dives, but it is always an incredible experience. I wish I will get chances to dive more and more and more.

Traveling is pretty neat too, don't you think? I also like airports and long bus-, car- and train rides as traveling is not only about being in your destination but also about the journey to reach it.

Theater- acting is like a drug for me. You get on a stage and nothing else exists. It's amazing feeling!
I also enjoy watching theater as well as movies.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Adventure- and snowboarding movies, The Lord of the Rings, Les Miserables, Rainman, Australia, Finding Neverland, Kiterunner, Intouchables, True Grit, The Way Back, Into the Wild, Schindler's List,

Music: There are tons of songs I like, but I don't even know the names of bands or artists behind them. I just happen to find a song, and I like it's melody or lyrics. And I'm always ready for new music experiences!

Books: J.R.R. Tolkien, Viktor Hugo, Torey Hayden, Khaled Hosseini, Astrid Lindgren

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are so many incredible things that I have got to see and experience that I can't pick one and I have written way too much already anyway!

But it was pretty damn cool that I made the decision to live my life!

Teach, Learn, Share

Since I joined CS I have tried to figure out something that I could teach, but I still haven't found an answer to that. I really wish I had a talent of doing something cool - like moving my ears or raising just one eyebrow at a time but I am sorry to tell that I don't. I know- LAME! :D

Actually I can bake Finnish cinnamon rolls (korvapuusti!) and that is about the only eatable thing that I can make (besides microwave-porridge)
Although I must say I am a mean dishwasher and seriously love doing dishes so leave those piles of dirty plates for me!

I am eager to learn rock climbing (very into that!), photographing, anything about history, surfing, skateboarding (if someone can teach me to skateboard I'll reward that person with Finnish chocolate!)
