About Me
Aloha!
After being an avid couch surfer in my 20s and then moving on to other ways of travel (hotels, etc.), I've returned to couchsurfing for the same reasons that attracted me in the first place, the adventurous and spontaneous spirit of connecting with a variety of people, and now there's the added flavor and satisfaction of not contributing to consumerism and instead focusing more intentionally on community.
I wrote this in my twenties when I first joined this site and it still stands today:
"I'm generally a happy person who has remained a child at heart. I'm very curious about this world and the people in it. I work to practice healthy living each day. I look for the gem in everything (I promise you, it's there)."
Additionally, I'm supportive of human rights for all (absolutely everyone), vaccines are generally a good thing, I'm progressive, and I'm respectful and considerate of others. I would prefer the same. For example, I'm no longer masking unless there is an outbreak or I'm sick, however, if you prefer masking at all times, that's okay with me!
I also host in Chicago when I'm there!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I look forward to meeting other travelers and sharing about our lives and perspectives.
Interests
I have many interests! They do seem to fluctuate with the weather. I sincerely feel that I'm a true ambivert. In the warmth, I enjoy slacklining, music festivals, gardening, camping, hiking, doing sports, and generally enjoying the outdoors. In the colder months, I try to be outside (with the right gear!). Otherwise, it's a good time for crafts, reading, and making good soups. I hope to learn to crochet sometime soon. I'm interested in learning another language (deciding between Korean and Chinese). Most of my days I enjoy playing the Quena, an indigenous flute from the Andes mountains, reading fiction and nonfiction, and listening to podcasts that expand my perspective or intrigue my imagination. Community building is also something I'm passionate about; I host biweekly game nights for my neighbors and friends in addition to a weekly neighborhood clean up.
