About Me

(Preface: I am more active on couchers.org these days, so please excuse a potential delay in response.)

I believe I'm a fairly reflective person who avoids settling for any echo chamber. This is also what I aim to get from traveling -- meet new people, learn about their world-views and give something back in return, hopefully helping us all understand the world a bit better.

(In other words, If you're weird in any way whatsoever and not too serious about it, I think we will get along well.)

Interests

Every year is a new obsession -- this time around it's expanding the knowledge of classic movies. I'm organizing cinema meetups in Prague and aiming to move on to private screenings.

Apart from that, I'm pretty keen on cooking, trekking, motorbike road trips and any discussion that isn't small talk.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Kubrick, Jarmusch, Trier, Iñárritu, Weir, Anderson, Lynch, Forman, anyone willing to experiment with the medium without getting overly pretentious.

Music: That's a hard-to-describe hodgepodge, as I have been doing my own musical odyssey across various mainstream and obscure genres for over 20 years and kept the best of it around. Currently I'm into The National, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bat for Lashes and Dum Dum Girls.
(If you happen to be interested a bit more specifically, most of my listening habits have been tracked via http://www.last.fm/user/hot_spot.)

Literature: Nowadays it's mostly non-fiction from the fields I am interested in. The favorite childhood book was always The Brothers Lionheart -- rather grim but also touching at the same time. I also have a soft spot for Greek mythology.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Made it all the way to 33.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some Czech words that you likely won't be able to pronounce anyway.

I'd like to learn how to not feel awkward on the dance floor.

Happy to share my experiences with living in CZ/IR/NL, knowledge of computer science-y stuff, interesting music and movie genres, and, well, all the travel stories.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you are lucky, I might bring you the famous ear-shaped gingerbread product of my home town.
