I took a risk and hiked the unfortunately closed trail, Stairway to Heaven in Oahu. I walked through dirt and mud, ruining my favorite pair of sneakers, navigated through a bamboo forest, potentially getting myself lost to get to the bottom on the steps. From there I climbed 3,922 steps to an elevation of 2,480 feet (756m) - sometimes as steep to the point it becomes a ladder rather than stairs where you are literally hanging off a cliff. But I would definitely do it again, but this time at 3am to watch the sunrise to get the full "heaven" experience.
