About Me

I love traveling as light as possible and learning foreign languages (I'm functional in Italian and Russian but I always try to learn the language wherever I am).

Right now I'm finishing up grad school and it's keeping me very busy, so I can't always host right now but depending on timing I'd be up for hanging out.

I'm a scientist - I am awed and overwhelmed by the beauty of nature. I love using my imagination, being creative, having fun and enjoying life. I have a lot in common with hippies because when it comes down to it, equality, understanding others, peace, love, freedom - that's all just common sense!!

Anyway, if you want more philosophy out of me, let's share some wine =)

(Tea is ok too)

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

I have been using Hospitality Club/Couchsurfing for a while. I'm grateful it's enabled me to learn so much about different cultures and ways of life because of it and to share so many unforgettable experiences.

Back when I had fewer commitments, I used to travel a lot. Now that I am tied down to one place, I get to bring the world to me by hosting. :)

Hosting and surfing all over the place (mainly through hospitalityclub.org)

Exploring, getting to know people, cooperative living, rock climbing, snowboarding, biking, nature, dancing (SWING, plus salsa, blues, and most others), orchestras, piano, composing. i.e. music!! hitchhiking, movies, chess, history and politics, languages (especially Hebrew, Finnish, and Japanese, though I'll probably never learn them), gradually lengthening lists

Music, Movies & Books

Prokofiev, Spirited Away, Master and Margarita

... are my rapid fire answers, lots of other things too of course.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

I had an American friend I lost contact with and thought I'd never see again. One day, at a metro station in Moscow, I was on the down escalator, and he was on the up escalator. Blew my mind.
