About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To save the world from itself.

ABOUT ME

Open-minded would probably be the most accurate way to describe myself. I try to take life one day at a time, and never too seriously, and I daresay I've become pretty damn good at it. I'm a firm believer that a good sense of humor will get you everywhere in this world.

PHILOSOPHY

"Mend the first break, kill the first snake, and conquer everything you undertake."

Don't ask, I read it in a fortune cookie.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Traveling can be a lot of work at times, always helps to have somebody who can lend a hand.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I just recently joined the community myself, but have had great experiences through traveling with friends that have used CS. Got an excellent tour and an invitation to a karaoke party from a lovely young lady in Merida, Mexico, and had a nice dry apartment to crash at on several occasions in Juneau after working and living out of a tent in the backcountry of Alaska for weeks at a time.

Interests

Hiking, biking, backpacking, camping, soccer, music, reading, drunken conversation, exploration of the world and of oneself.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a bluegrass junkie, it is my guilty pleasure. That being said, I enjoy most every genre, so long as it's not regurgitated on the radio 20x a day.

Some of my favorite books include Shantaram, Johnny Got His Gun, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, 1984, and many of John Muir's wilderness writings.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Built a remote US Forest Service public use cabin at Kegan Cove on Prince of Wales Island, AK. It blows my mind when I reflect on the fact that it will likely outlive me by a long shot, as well as the comfort and enjoyment it will bring to countless visitors.

Teach, Learn, Share

Lots of backcountry knowledge and experience. If I can get the time off work, I'm always game for a romp in the woods and a sharing of skills.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Mexico, Nicaragua, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
