About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to shake every hand, see every smile, hear every song, dance every dance, eat, drink, play, and touch every piece of this wildly spinning stone that we call the Earth.

ABOUT ME

I'm a happy-go-lucky, fun loving, music playing, flower sniffing, citizen of the world. I am always smiling, very open minded, very optimistic, and I can see the good in everything and everyone. I play many musical instruments, and sing (though sometimes poorly). I love meeting new people, thought provoking conversations, good food, good books, good music, good times, and getting lost only to discover new places. I'm a little bit folk, a little country, a little rock 'n' roll, a little jazz and blues, and a little bit ...other, but I'm all smiles.

PHILOSOPHY

Just smile. Everyone has a right to their voice their opinions, but you have to say it with a smile, and be open to new ideas. It is stronger that iron, faster than a cheetah, and cheaper than ice cream. Its like planting a seed. If you smile or lend a helping hand to someone, it just might make their day better. They will smile at someone else, and you may just start a chain reaction of happiness, kindness, and compassion. Plant a seed every day, and watch them grow. There is a line in one of my favorite songs that says, "If you smile at me I will understand, because that is something everybody everywhere does in the same language."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just heard of the couchsurfing project, so I am still learning how to participate, but I hope to be a CS veteran soon.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am a couchsurfing virgin. This is my first time out of the United States, so I am excited to participate in the CouchSurfing project.

Interests

I love music. It is my life. I play many different instruments, I sing, and I love playing with other people. I also love sports. As a child I played many sports, but in high school I just played American Football, and I was a wrestler. I love all sports, but lately I have grown very fond of sports that you can play while drinking a beer, like golf, bowling, and billiards. I also have a great passion for food. I am not the best cook in the world, but I know how to eat.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music. I live for handmade, passionate, heartfelt music. I love the roots of music, and the origins of music from all over the world. I love folk, blues, jazz, world, bluegrass, country, and good ol' Rock 'n' Roll. I have an enormous music collection, so it is difficult to name my favorites, but today I listened to Pete Seeger, The Allman Brothers, Son House, Bela Fleck, CSNY, Neil Young, Nick Drake, Van Morrison, Guns 'n' Roses, Johnny Cash, String Cheese, and Flatt & Scruggs. I also love movies that can make me laugh outloud, and interesting films that make you really think. My favorites are Harold and Maude, Dead Man, Big Fish, Apocolypse Now, Forrest Gump, Into The Wild, and Lost in Translation just to name a few. I am an avid reader of American and English classics, and my favorite authors are Mark Twain, Charles Bukowski, and Kurt Vonnegut.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have traveled all over the United States, worked many different jobs, and I've seen many incredible things, but the most incredible thing I have ever done is either working in the music industry in Los Angeles, or teaching English in Hungary, with which I am currently involved.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to teach and learn new music. Everytime you play music with someone, you learn something new, about both the music, and the other person. I can also share my passion and knowledge of politics, sports, literature, country living, and beer just to name a few. I have alot to give. And...I am always up for a challenge, and ready to learn something new about another country, culture, and a new way to live. I am, and will always be, a teacher and a student.
