Music: Rock (and many of its subgenres) Blues, Soul, Rap, Classical, Salsa, Samba, Bossa Nova, Cumbia, Chicha, Peruvian Creole, Rap, World (very vague, I know, but always interested in listening to new non-western genres).
Books:
My work involves reading a lot of historical biographies. Some of my favourites: DJ Taylor's Orwell: A Life; Simon Dixon's book on Catherine the Great; Edward Champlin's Nero and Stacy Schiff's Cleopatra: A Life
Some non-fiction books I've enjoyed recently and in life: Aztecs by Inga Clendimann; History of the Conquest of Peru by William Prescott; Narcolandia by Anabel Hérnandez; Down and Out in Paris and London by George Orwell; Letters to a Young Contrarian by Christopher Hitchens; Les Confessions by Rousseau; What is History? by EH Carr ; Animal Liberation by Peter Singer; Why we Love Dogs, Eat Pigs and Wear Cows by Melanie Joy
I haven't read much fiction and really should read more as I probably prefer it. Currently reading plenty of poetry, and I'm enjoying the great English poets - classical (Shakespeare, Milton, Donne etc.) romantic (Blake, Shelley, Wordsworth etc.) war poets (Sassoon, Owen etc.) and modern/20th century (Larkin, Auden, Eliot, Kipling etc.).
No movie buff but some great films I've really enjoyed in the last year or so have been: 'Boiling Point', 'Gone Girl', 'Midsommar', 'Hereditary', 'Incredibles 2' (lol), and 'Wind River'.

Being born is quite an achievement - 1 in 4 trillion.
Sounds very cliché but being one of the first visitors to enter the main Machu Picchu site when it reopened after the pandemic. Very front of the queue. Since much of the path is winding, my partner and I rarely, if ever saw the surprisingly few people behind us. In front of us, of course, the beauty of the historic site and the surrounding Cordillera, with its habitual haze and eerie melancholy - without a single soul in sight.
