About Me

I'm from the humble yet beautiful California Central Valley. After spending 2 semesters abroad in Spain and Thailand, I fell in love with travelling. Since then I now call Fukuoka, the capital city of Kyushu island, my home.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I originally heard about Couchsurfing from a friend that I made while traveling in New Zealand. We were staying at backpacker hostels for about 3 weeks and while fun, we didn't really have a chance to intereact with local people. I thought Couchsurfing was a great concept and a terrific way to experience traveling on a more personal level. Although I haven't made any requests since joining Couchsurfing I have hosted several surfers at my home in Fukuoka, JApan.

Interests

My interests these days involve getting outdoors and being active. I enjoy hiking, scuba diving, and photography. I broke a leg recently, but once I'm completely healed I would like to venture into cycling.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my most memorable experiences was bungy jumping twice on New Year's day 2012. The first jump was the Kawarau Bridge jump, otherwise known as the original bungy site, and the second jump, the Nevis, at 135 meters was the highest, in NZ. What a way to welcome the new year.

Teach, Learn, Share

Unfortunately, there are certain times of the year, like Obon in August, that I'm not able to host because I'm traveling. If you you find that there are no hosts or hotels available, here are a few other recommendations.

Hostels:

Fukuoka Hana Hostel
fukuoka.hanahostel.com

Khao San Fukuoka
khaosan-fukuoka.com

Takatani Ya
