About Me

I am 38 and an ex-Erasmus student. It's been almost 18 years since I took my Erasmus year in Denmark, and I am afraid I've never recovered from the post-Erasmus syndrome: suffering from a lifelong wanderlust. Keen on travelling since then, I enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds, not only to share good moments or the passion for travelling, but also to share knowledge about their and my backgrounds, our countries' history and so forth.
There's no better way to know a country than through the eyes of a local.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am very much interested to meet local people when travelling. Not only to be put up, but mainly to get to know the places I am visiting from the locals' perspective.

I could also be interested in hosting people, of course.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My top 4 experiences while travelling are as follows:

- One-month trip through Scandinavian and Baltic countries with a Scanrail pass. As my German friend and me were really short of money we dared to sleep on the street in Northern Finland; we even slept on the deck of a ferry from Turku (Finland) to Stockholm (Sweden).
- A month and a half stay travelling through Greece and volunteer at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games at the same time.
- Spend four magical nights in a jungle next to Iguazú Falls (Argentina). Well, to be honest, it was in a cabbin in the jungle . . . But hope it counts as staying in the jungle.
- To attend a 3-week long Chinese Mandarin language course in Xi'an (China) to improve and learn Chinese, and realise how far I still am to achive some fluency. Xi'an is amazing, and it is a must to eat at its Muslim quartier; or to climb Hua Shan mountain in the nearby rural area, to see huge rocks hanging over a misty forest.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Besides friendship, which is always welcome, I can share relaxing moments, some good chat, cooking experiences, laughs . . .
