ABOUT ME
In 2006 I left to travel and have found that I have a real passion for photography, and can't seem to stay away from mountains. Overall, I love people and good conversation and just a little bit of craziness in the trip. www.seekingshangrila.com is my website, chock-full of photos and stories. After coming back and settling into the US, I founded a crossfit gym with a friend and now help people get strong and fit full time =)
PHILOSOPHY
One of my favorite qutoes: "the difference between a poet and a non-poet is that the poet writes things down." Sometimes I'm more poetic than others..

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
*Note - lost my password for a little while. Pls excuse the crappy response rate*
I didn't use CS much during my time in South America and Asia, but have been amazed and surprised by the wonderful people I met arriving in Europe in January 2008. In between visiting friends, I bounced between a few couches, and really enjoyed getting to know folks.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Nothing says it better than this.. I arrived in Milan without New Year's plans, and with CS's help, ended up staring down at Lake Como fireworks from a mountain refuge at 2400m at midnight, with spumante and pannetone in hand..

Music, Movies, and Books
Marquez, Hunter S. Thompson, Rushdie, lots of non-fiction.. Just finished "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk" which captures some curious realities of Texas pretty well.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
There are too many amazing things in life to name just one. A few favorite moments from the trip: seeing the milky way in Patagonia, sitting next to a snoring 250kg tortoise in the Galapagos, smiling back at the dancers of Carnaval in Colombia, walking in the clouds and silence on top of Roraima in Venezeula, exploring the last undescribed mountains in Bolivia, taking butter tea in a Nomad's tent in Tibet, sprinting up the valley to Nepal's Annapurna sanctuary, galloping over sand dunes with a camel in India and skiing right off the lift to grab a sizzling sausage in Bulgaria. Processing with the Brazilians in full samba in Madrid's carnaval, and eating breakfast on top of the Sahara's dunes rank up there too..
