Overview
About Me
Hello! My name is Ibrahim, I am from Turkey and I work as a university academic in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Alongside teaching and research, I am passionate about cultural exchange, traveling, and meeting new people from around the world.
I recently discovered Couchsurfing and I really love the idea of sharing experiences, connecting with locals, and seeing cities through their eyes rather than just as a tourist. Since this is new for me, I am very excited to start this journey.
As a person, I am open-minded, respectful, and curious about different lifestyles. I enjoy good conversations about culture, education, science, and daily life. I also like exploring local food, history, and hidden spots of a city.
When I host or visit, I value kindness, honesty, and mutual respect. I believe the best part of traveling is not only the places but also the people we meet on the way.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I recently discovered Couchsurfing and immediately loved the idea. For me, traveling is not only about seeing new places but also about meeting people, sharing stories, and experiencing life from a local perspective.
I already travel for both academic and personal reasons, and I believe Couchsurfing is a great way to connect with people who share the same spirit of openness and curiosity. Since this is my first time trying it, I am excited to start this journey and make meaningful connections along the way.
Interests
I have a wide range of interests that connect both my professional and personal life. As a university academic in mechanical engineering, I am deeply interested in technology, design, and innovative solutions for the future. At the same time, I enjoy traveling and discovering different cultures, because I believe every place and every person has a unique story to share.
I love exploring local food, history, and architecture wherever I go, and I am always curious about how people live in their daily routines. Good conversations over coffee or dinner are some of the best parts of traveling for me.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, listening to music, and watching movies. I also like photography and walking through cities to capture their hidden corners. Sustainable living and green technologies are also passions of mine, as I believe they are essential for our common future.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have a broad taste in music – I enjoy classical music and jazz when I want to relax, but I also like world music and modern tunes when traveling or spending time with friends.
For movies, I enjoy both international cinema and Hollywood classics. I especially like films that tell strong human stories, documentaries, and sometimes light comedies to relax.
As for books, I read a lot for my academic work in engineering and design, but in my free time I enjoy literature, history, and books about culture and society. I also like novels that open new perspectives and inspire imagination.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most amazing things I have experienced was participating in international research projects where people from different countries worked together to solve real-world problems. Seeing how collaboration and knowledge can cross borders was truly inspiring.
Another unforgettable moment for me was visiting historical and natural sites during my travels – especially walking through ancient cities and realizing how people thousands of years ago shaped the world we live in today. Those moments always remind me how small we are compared to history, but also how connected we are as humans.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach about engineering, design, and technology since I work as a university academic. I also enjoy sharing knowledge about Turkish culture, traditions, and daily life. If you are curious, I would be happy to introduce you to some Turkish words or even a few recipes from our cuisine.
I would love to learn more about local cultures, daily habits, and hidden gems of the cities I visit. I believe every person has something unique to teach, and I am always open to learning new perspectives.
I like to share good conversations, stories, and experiences. For me, Couchsurfing is not only about a place to stay but also about creating meaningful connections and memories.
What I Can Share with Hosts
As a guest, I value respect, cleanliness, and kindness. I can offer good company, interesting conversations, and cultural exchange. I enjoy sharing stories about life in Turkey, our traditions, and also my experiences as a university academic working on engineering and international projects.
If you are curious, I can also show you some Turkish words, teach you about our food, or even cook a simple Turkish dish for you. Above all, I can promise to be a considerate guest who appreciates your hospitality and makes the experience enjoyable for both sides.
