About Me

Hi there, I am Ida. I find it difficult to describe my personality in words, so here are a couple of random facts about me:
I am truly fascinated with life science
I'd rather be singing than talking
I try to make art
Cooking is like meditating
I'm quite grumpy when I'm hungry
I think that all questions (not just the honest ones) deserve honest answers

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have been sleeping on many couches in South America and a few around Europe. I am looking forward to the day when I again have space to host travellers. It is always a pleasure!

Interests

Music, both listening to and making it.
Books (even though I mostly have time for the academic ones these days..)
Any outdoor activity: running, windsurfing, hiking, walking around in the rain

Music, Movies, and Books

I have fallen in love with many, many writers and love to discuss their writing. Some of my favorite writers are Paul Auster, Aldous Huxley, Hemingway and Dostojevsky.
I love jazz but I'm open to most kinds of music. With a few exceptions ;)
When it comes to movies, I am a huge Quentin Tarantino fan. I love watching foreign movies, and I also enjoy documentaries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I taught math and science in a Kenyan school for three months, and I miss the place. The people and their lives gave me an entirely new perspective on things, and also some friends for life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook and I'm very curious about foreign food traditions. You can definitely expect a meal or two in exchange for a place to sleep :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, China, France, Iceland, Ireland, Kenya, Lithuania, Nepal, Paraguay, Peru, Tanzania, Thailand, Uruguay

Countries I’ve Lived In
