Heyo CSers of the World !

I'm Idir, a 28yo explorer from FRANCE currently traveling Asia and now Europe with the project of slowly making my way back home by road and seas...

My adventure started in June 2023 in Perth - Australia - where I traveled across the west coast before reaching Indonesia on a sailboat. Then I spent 4 months around the wonderful countries of Indonesia and Malaysia, 4 months in beautiful Thailand, 2 months in Lao and Cambodia, 6months in India, a month in Georgia and 2 in Turkiye haha. In total its been more than 2 yeara now hahaa

I like to move with different types of transportation: I mostly hitchhike, I cycled one month around Cambodia (tough but unforgettable experience), I traveled with a motorbike in Vietnam, and I sometimes take the bus or train when hitchhiking is not working well or when I'm just lazy haha...
And so far my trip has been possible without taking a single airplane and I'm willing to continue until I reach France (SPOILER ALERT: I flew to India... 😅 It was too complicated to go by road haha)

Why am I traveling this way ? For the challenge first: it is definitely more adventurous ! I'm enjoying an authentic travel experience that allows me to get to discover and understand the diversity of the Asian cultures, which is my main interest. And I'am trying to limit my environmental footprint.
I made the choice not to have a deadline and not plan my trip too much because I believe best plan is no plan ;) I just slowly make my way...

I would modestly consider myself as open to others and really easy going person. I'm very curious: I love having conversations about pretty much everything and learning about people's 6 work, hobbies... but obviously enjoy sharing about mine. I have a big interest in languages: I just love learning languages and their specificities. It's fascinating to understand the complexity of a culture through its language. My mother tongues are French and Kabyle (a berber language from Algeria where I'm originally from). I also speak Spanish, a bit of Bahasa Indonesia and I'm learning Italian

I am a film photographer. I do contact pois (spinning). I play guitar, ukulele and percussion. Btw I have a darbuka with me. I love cooking but much more eating haha

Music, Movies, and Books

It can really depend on my mood ! I like discovering new artists or styles to enrich my playlist but I enjoy a lot latin music and techno parties. I watch a lot of movies but often fall asleep :D I prefer psychological thrillers, dramas, and documentaries. But above all, I love Tarantino movies !!
I am also a slow reader (but working on that 🙄)
