About Me

I'm a gregarious and adventurous guy from Newport Oregon. I fish in the Bering Sea two months on and two months off and like to travel and adventure during my time off. If you're swinging through I'd be more than happy to show you around. If you are inclined, look me up on InstaGram @ifish4u

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I take a lot of trips on my motorcycle and would rather camp or meet and stay with interesting people rather than by myself in a hotel room.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music interests are constantly evolving and fluctuating, right now I'm listening to a lot of Alternative and The Blues. Movies: I don't watch much TV, I'm a Netflix documentary kind of guy. While at sea I eat books for lunch and floss with the bindings, I read a lot.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My job is pretty amazing

Teach, Learn, Share

I have recently found my inner artist and had my second art show this year. I make realistic looking fish with bottle caps for scales and other beer related materials. I am now working on large bottle cap mosaics and marine-life sculptures made with recycled commercial fishing materials. I'm in my 30's and just found out I had this hidden talent. You're never too old to grow or change and following a crazy idea I had has opened many new doors for me, added a different type of satisfaction to my life, and made me look at the world and art with a new kind of appreciation.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook, make you laugh, regale you with many stories from the 7 seas, explain life as a fisherman and what it was like to grow up in the Pacific Northwest. Good food + good stories = new friends. I like to talk with people about their lives, experiences and perceptions. I am also knowledgable and helpful with DIY projects around the house as I've nearly completely remodeled one of my own.
