About Me

Hello, my name is Ignacia, my native language is spanish, I'm from Chile and I'm 24 years old. I'm currently studying Electrical Engineering in the University of Chile, I'm in my 6th year.

My family is my mother, a very nice woman who loves me a lot and my little brother that is not really that little now, is 21 years old, but it will be my little brother until I die, he is a very nice guy that protect me everytime I have needed.

I have a girlfriend, she is 27 years old, and her family and mine support my relationship and we don't have problems any more, all the bad things went away and we're very happy together. We have our little apartment close to our university (she studies Civil Engineering) and we have 2 dogs, both were saved from the street, the first one is Chiky, it's a 8 years old male Bichón dog and the other one it's a new male puppy that we found on a beach during our little vacations this summer, his name is Sam and is 4 months old. This last one is like Taz (Tasmanian Devil).

In other hand I'm currently studying German because I believe that I have better and more oportunities in Germany to complete my studies about my career. Now I'm applying to Stuttgart University to do an internship there to improve my german and learn more about renewable energy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This summer (in february) the company Arcadis offer me an internship in Germany (Arcadis Deutschland) it's a job of three months, from 18th May to 18th August. I'm ready to travel, I have my VISA, my health insurance and my fly's ticket to land in Germany this 15th May and I have 3 days to find a place to live in Cologne, Germany before my job begin. That's why I'm Couchsurfing.

I'm trying to find a place to live in the city of Cologne in Germany most likely close of Altstadt-Nord, or a few km from there so I can move in my bike (I'm traveling with my bike) to work.

Interests

My hobbies are mostly sports, I was rowing a 2 years ago, I did 2 years of Tennis both sports in my university and when I'm not doing any sport at all I usually go to the gym to stay in shape. I really like moving in bicycle in the city, to go buy bread in the morning/afternoon, to go to the university, to go to the cinema, or to see new places when I'm not in Chile.

I love reading and drawing, I usually draw anime, most of the time from the HunterXHunter manga, I like reading this comic too. I have the entirely collection of Harry Potter's books and now I'm reading Game of Thrones. I love watching series like this last one, Breaking Bad too, now I'm seeing Better Call Saul, and so on, Friends is very good until this days too.

I like to study Electrical Engineering and everything that help me to be a better engineer in the future. My strong subjects are Renewable Energy, mostly solar (photovoltaic, Concentrated Solar Power, etc).

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite band is "Dave Matthews Band", no band is better to me, I went to see this band in 2014 here in Chile and I really enjoyed the concert, it was the "Summer Fest" in the National Stadium in Santiago.
In the Lolapalooza 2014 I met Lorde music and I really loved, and I listened to Phoenix, I really like this band it was amazing jumping while I heard them.
I like too: Daft Punk, David Guetta, Race the Sun, Nicole (from Chile), Aqualung, etc.
In general I prefer alternative rock, clasic rock, pop, electronic and Indie music.

I'm addicted to cinema, I really like expending my time and my money going to watch movies outside my home, my favorite movie is "3 Idiots" an Indian movie directed by Rajkumar Hirani. If you want to know why I liked, you better watch it. When I was younger I enjoyed watching all the Harry Potter movies, but now that I'm older I prefer the books. Other movies that I like are: the Schlinder's List, The Notebook, The Fiddler on the Roof (1971), Leon the Professional, The Black Swan and many other from the actress Natalie Portman.

About books, I really enjoy reading fantastic topics, like The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, etc. I really like how the writer spend time describing the places, the clothing, the atmosphere about a world that I don't know.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The 2012 I traveled to Argentina, Cordoba, it was my first trip payed entirely with my own money, the fly's ticket, the hostels, the food, the tour, everything. I wanted to go there on vacations because it was a place where I could do Skydiving, so I payed 100.000 CLP and it was my first time doing extreme sports, it was the best thing that I have done in my life, it was like flying for the first time, just me and the wind against my body.

Now I want to do rafting and Bungee Jumping.

Teach, Learn, Share

In my everyday life I teach mathematics and physics to students from school or university, I teach advanced calculus too.

I'm learning German to improve my chances to finish my studies in Germany.

I share good vibes, nice experiences, good time and peacefull.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well with Hosts I can share the same that I do with my friends and something else, I can teach them spanish if the speak english, I can teach them to cook some nice things here in my place, I can travel with them to nice places here in Santiago and maybe even in other places of Chile. All this when I get back from Germany of course.

I can share with them a place to stay, where they can sleep alone in a futon just for them, and share my kitchen and my bathroom so they can cook and clean themself when they want.
