Because I've always enjoyed meeting interesting people, especially from foreign backgrounds. The cultural differences and similarities make meeting people an extremely interesting and educating experience.

Also because for quite a while I did not have the luxury of traveling much and now that I can, I realized that I do not know many people in foreign lands, which is an extremely great thing to have when traveling, for obvious reasons. :)
