Hey, I’m Igor, 24, and I’m passionate about travel and the connections it brings. During my backpacking trip through Europe, where I visited 39 cities across 9 countries, I realised that the best part of any journey isn’t just the places, but the friendships you make along the way.

Now that I work remotely, I’m excited to explore Brazil (and perhaps the rest of the world!) with the same enthusiasm, meeting new people and learning from every encounter. Couchsurfing has shown me that there’s something special in every meeting—whether it’s an inspiring conversation, a shared laugh, or that unforgettable moment.

Não estou aqui só atrás de um lugar para dormir; estou em busca das pessoas que dão vida a cada lugar. Depois da minha última viagem, aprendi a dar ainda mais valor às amizades e histórias que o CS torna possíveis. Para mim, é importante descobrir a alma de um lugar através de trocas significativas e criar memórias que vão muito além de uma viagem qualquer.

Ainda não tive a chance de receber pessoas – já que não estou morando sozinho no momento –, mas espero poder retribuir a generosidade que vivi. Até lá, estou aqui para compartilhar histórias, fazer novas conexões e explorar o mundo pelas pessoas incríveis que conheço pelo caminho.

I’m not just looking for a place to crash; I’m here to connect with the people who bring each place to life. After my last trip, I’ve really come to appreciate the friendships and stories Couchsurfing makes possible. Music, Movies, and Books

Sou bem eclético quando se trata de música. A voz da Adele me conquista demais, mas também adoro a MPB de Caetano, Bethânia e Gal, e até me perco em uma boa ópera de vez em quando. Gosto de músicas que me toquem de alguma forma, seja pela letra ou pela emoção que transmitem.

No cinema, não sou fã de algo muito específico – depende do momento. Filmes como Boyhood, que fala sobre a passagem do tempo, ou Roman Holiday, me conquistam pela simplicidade e pela beleza da história. Também curto filmes que mexem com questões mais profundas, como O Segredo de Brokeback Mountain e Lost in Translation. Aliás, também adoro o cinema brasileiro! Filmes como A Hora da Estrela, Central do Brasil, Confissões de um Liquidificador são excelentes expressões da cultura nacional.

Na literatura, O Homem que Matou Getúlio Vargas é um dos meus favoritos. É uma mistura de história e ficção que me fascina. E, claro, adoro poesia, que tem essa magia de fazer você enxergar o mundo de uma maneira diferente.

I’m pretty eclectic when it comes to music. Adele’s voice is something I can never get enough of, but I’m also a huge fan of Brazilian MPB—Caetano, Bethânia, Gal—and every now and then, I enjoy some opera. I love music that connects with me, whether it’s the lyrics or the emotion it carries.

When it comes to movies, I don’t have one specific genre I stick to—it really depends on the mood. I’m drawn to films like Boyhood, which captures the passage of time, or the classic Roman Holiday, which just has that perfect blend of simplicity and beauty. I also enjoy deeper movies like Brokeback Mountain and Lost in Translation that touch on more complex themes. By the way, I also love Brazilian cinema! Movies like A Hora da Estrela, Central do Brasil, and Confissões de um Liquidificador are excellent expressions of our national culture.

As for books, The Man Who Killed Getúlio Vargas is one of my favorites. It blends history with fiction in a way that’s fascinating. And, of course, I’m into poetry—it has this magical way of making you see the world from a different perspective.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Algumas das experiências mais incríveis que vivi incluem fazer trekking nos Andes, no Chile, e nas Highlands, na Escócia, onde visitei o Lago Ness. Também tive a experiência inesquecível de ir à abertura da temporada de ópera em Nápoles no meu aniversário — foi um sonho realizado.

Mas, sem dúvida, o melhor de tudo foi quando conheci meu namorado através do CS em Berlim. Foi um dos momentos mais espontâneos e especiais da minha jornada.

In English:

Some of the most amazing experiences I’ve had include trekking through the Andes in Chile and exploring the Highlands in Scotland, where I even visited Loch Ness. I also had the unforgettable experience of attending the opening night of the opera season in Naples on my birthday—it was an absolute dream.

But, without a doubt, the best part of my travels was meeting my boyfriend through Couchsurfing in Berlin. That was truly one of the most special moments of my journey.
