About Me

I'm a curious anthropology graduate, learning filmmaking. I've grown up in Finland, but I've lived abroad for the past 9 years, and I feel the most at home in the Netherlands. I am an introvert who likes people. Once you get to know me I'm an endless well of bad jokes and friendly teasing.

At the moment I'm a chef-in-training at a lovely food waste restaurant in Amsterdam. I love the place, my colleagues, learning new techniques everyday, learning to work around the produce that is at hand (our philosophy with the food waste), and weirdly, working under the pressure - but this is something temporary. I'm considering going to a film school for a year and learning more about documentary-making. But what I've learned about myself so far, is that I will most likely never settle down to one career path. I need diversity, inspiration, and flexibility in my life. So let's see what lies ahead!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Once I get too comfortable in a place, I close up. Couchsurfing helps me to create new connections with amazing people I never knew existed.

In spring and summer 2016 I made my first, and a deeply inspiring solo backpacking trip through several Balkan states and Romania. I found out that couchsurfing was my preferred style of accommodation. I met some very beautiful people who enriched my travel.

Interests

I have a deep-rooted interest in the voices and stories of different people, especially of the unheard and marginalized. I'm especially interested in the media of podcasts and documentaries, and I enjoy discussing with other people about their life philosophies and experiences.

I'm at the point of my life where I'm re-assessing my interests and values and exploring a lot of new things and picking up some old passions that I abandoned over the years, such as rock climbing, outdoor adventures, traveling with the van, backpacking, painting/drawing, (documentary) film-making, cooking (professionally and at home), yoga, guitar, sex-positivity, nature-loving etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in an ecovillage for a couple of months as part of my studies, immersing myself in their lifestyle. My favorite moments included hour-long communal sauna sessions and dips in the icy water in the lake.
