Hi! My name is Ilhem and I'm from a small city next to Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Currently I'm 26?years old. In 2015 I got my bachelor in Communication and worked in a drugstore.

My whole life I have loved to travel. When I got older (17 haha) I didn't travel with my parents anymore and felt a strong need to discover new places, knowing more about what's happening in the world and meeting people from other countries and learn about their life and culture.

February 2, 2017, I left my save life in the Netherlands behind to travel the world. I had big plans, which changed all the time, because there is so much to do and see in this wonderful world.

Update May 2019: I traveled Asia for six months, till I got sick in Vietnam and was forced to go home. After two months at home I left for North, Central and South America and after nine months on the road again, I went home homesick. I soent five months at home in 2018, realising I wasnt ready for the settled life and left again in January 2019. Returned to Latin America, fell in love with Colombia and traveling Ecuador right now.

I met so many amazing people, made a lot of friends and am overwhelmed and thankful by all the things I experienced.

One of the things I love the most about traveling, is the people. I really like to hear about the life they live in their own country and realising how different the world is.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I travelled Japan last year (May 2017) I wanted to try CS. I had never done it and none of my friends or people I knew neither. It was one of those things I wanted to try while traveling. Although I didn't had any references yet, a nice guy in Osaka gave me a really nice first experience with CS. He told me so much about the country, told me the places I should visit, explained some history to me, told me where I could get the best food, took me to a bar with another friend and simply just gave me a real home after months of sleeping in hostels. This was really valuable for me and you get to see a country or place with different eyes.
