We are relaxed people, love to travel and have a very comfy couch. We are both engineers and are working in Stuttgart. The cat Lucy is usually dozing somewhere, playing with her string or visiting the neighbours cats.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have surfed on quite a few couches on several continents, quite a number of friends from all over the world have stayed with us. Yet, usually a friend of a friend. Staying in Istanbul for 3 months I (ilka) have joined several CS meetings and events with anything from 3 to 60 people attending and enjoyed them a lot. Sometimes we meet Couchsurfer of diffrent cities, lately we heve been growing into surfing and hosting as well.

At the meetings in Istanbul I have met a great diversity of people. I am usually surrounded by engineers and teachers, so now suddenly I meet people who write subtitles, book models, work in banks or law firms, architects or just travel for months. So thats great! and we don't mainly talk about work! :-)

Most amazing non-website couch surfing experience was when my friend and I kept taking the same hitchhiker on a road trip accross Canada and thus we became friends. In Quebec city all hostels were full, so he ended up couchsurfing with an amazing elderly lady. He just asked her about a hotel and after 2 minutes talking she offered her couch. She invited all of us to dinner and we ended up dancing to old elvis records. I never imagined to have so much fun with a 70 year old!
