ABOUT ME

Hi everyone! Good to meet you :) I’m an easygoing person, making a living as a researcher and finishing my PhD in my spare time. I live in the centre of Arnhem, just a 10-minute walk from the train station and the town centre. Arnhem has great places to go out for a drink!

I grew up in a Dutch-Indonesian family, and I have always loved travelling and getting to know different cultures. I also lived in South Africa for 4 years, we got there in 1996, which was one of the most wonderful experiences!
I'm pretty passionate about everything I do, making sure to get to the bottom of something if I decide to take it on.

I play the piano, I enjoy doing sports and also to relax and have good discussions. I have a great interest in health and nutrition, and I love to cook, albeit only with natural ingredients :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first 'CouchSurfing' experience was in Indonesia, in 2008, when a man invited us to stay at his place on a tiny island. It was a spontaneous decision, but we loved every minute of it! A holiday becomes so much more intense when you really get to know the locals.
It wasn't until much later that I discovered this website, and I now intend to host and surf as much as I can!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Getting to experience Tunisia side by side with a local friend and breaking through the facade of being a tourist... what an unbelievable and amazing difference!

Waterskiing in Canada while no one in the group really knew how to do it...

Playing piano ( or anything with music, for that matter) with friends. The more hands on the keyboard, the better :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm trying my hardest to learn French. And I'm finding that just speaking and listening works a lot better for me than the grammar books they gave us in high school. Apart from that, I can't think of anything I wouldn't want to learn :)
