Hi! I am Ilse, I am 24 years old and currently slow travelling for an undetermined amount of time. One reason why I am doing this is to challenge my sense of home to the Netherlands, where I grew up, and to see if I want to go back there or maybe move elsewhere in the world. This also means I officially live in the Netherlands, but I do not have a room or apartment there anymore.

Second reason is that I just started my online master in which I learn about different philosophies and cosmologies. But what better way to learn than in practice by actually immersing myself in different cultures and their cosmologies!

The last half a year I lived in Xela, Guatemala and now I will be in Brazil for a few months. Here I hope to do couch-surfing for the first time :)

So many things! I did my semester abroad in Hawaiʻi, I did an internship on an organic rice farm in Laos, I stayed with the Yawanawa in the Brazilian rainforest for a month for a dieta, saw two volcanos erupt in Guatemala, travelled in a van in Portugal, skydived. But also the calm and peaceful moments of life I appreciate a lot :)

I really like to cook (risotto, lasagna, curry, dutch pancakes, anything vegetarian!). And I absolutely love conversations about philosophies of life, which is very much related to my interests in cultural anthropology and philosophy.
